Edina Community Lutheran Church publicly welcomes and lifts up the leadership of
lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer members and staff...and has since 1985!

Statement of Welcome approved by the congregation
at the Annual Meeting on February 13th, 2022

God’s love is inclusive. Guided by this love, Edina Community Lutheran Church joyfully welcomes, affirms, and celebrates the wholeness of who you are as people of all:

• Abilities and disabilities

• Ages

• Family structures

• Gender identities and expressions

• Immigration statuses

• Races and ethnicities

• Sexual orientations

• Socio-economic statuses

We believe our lives and our faith become stronger through diversity; we welcome all as guests, members, volunteers, and leaders of our community.

Our faith calls us to advocate and work towards racial justice, eco-justice, and LGBTQIA+ justice. We are committed to being inclusive and anti-racist in what we do and who we are. We acknowledge the Christian Church’s history and recognize that there is work to do. We are dedicated to the journey of learning, living, and growing in God’s love. There is a place for you here.

ECLC is blessed to worship with a diverse array of families and to celebrate special occasions with them. ECLC hosted its first same-sex wedding in 1994 and has hosted many, many more ceremonies (and baptisms of the many children of these families) since then.
